Hello everyone! My name is Ting-Wei Yu, and
you can call me Jennifer. Coming from Taiwan, I am currently a Public Relations
Post-Graduate student at Niagara College.
I love pop music, and I am a fan of K-pop (pop
music of South Korean)! Listening to music has been my routine since I was in senior
high. However, it was not until Korean songs account for half of my song list
that I realized I’m totally into K-pop. Unconsciously, I started to care about
everything regarding K-pop: which group/singer is going to release a new song, which
new group/singer is going to debut, which entertainers are going to make a collaboration,
etc. I may not read daily news, but I must read K-pop news every day.
Since November 2012, the most viewed video
on YouTube has been a music video from a South Korean singer, Psy's
"Gangnam Style". Up to now, the view count of it has achieved 2,520,186,274 (as of February 18, 2016). Whether like it or not, the influence of K-pop cannot
be overlooked.
Not sure about its popularity in Europe and
North America, but K-pop has undoubtedly taken the whole Asia by storm. It goes
without saying that the huge success is created by lots of efforts from all practitioners,
talented entertainers, people and government. In my opinion, it is their promotion
tactics that contribute the most to the status of K-pop nowadays, and it is
also what I want to share with you guys through this blog.
Hope that you can enjoy my blog, and enjoy K-pop.
Just by reading this section I've learned a lot. First, I didn't know there was something called "K-pop". Second, I didn't know that "Gangnam Style" was considered part of it! That song was a huge success and fun to listen! Even in Latin America everyone was dancing like Psy. You have a very interesting blog.
